I’ll just say again that this is the best of the three RARE NOIR IS GOOD TO FIND series that we’ve screened at the Roxie, with films that demonstrate the ongoing depth and range of film noir around the world. What is most surprising is how much of it appears when film noir in America is considered to be moribund.

Prices for individual double features will be $16, and our triple feature on Sunday (the first three films you see listed for August 20—THE CHASERS, FIRE IN THE NIGHT and THE BEAST SHALL DIE—is priced at $18. To see all 13 films at those “retail” prices would set you back just under $100 ($98, to be exact), so do yourself a favor and lock in another sensational series from those of us who bring you THE FRENCH HAD A NAME FOR IT, MIDCENTURY MADNESS, and “Phoebe Green’s fever dream" (aka THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LOST CONTINENT ‘23).

I’ll be back with a look at our truly incendiary FRANCO-AMERICAN NOIR Saturday matinee (definitely not like the ones that we were sent to as kids by our parents!), the apocalyptic pairing of DECOY and THE DEVIL’S DAUGHTER, playing (for keeps) at the 4-Star Theater starting at 2:00pm on August 12th. (I’ll have a post about those two films for you in a couple of days!)
